Some things to consider:
1) Bring up Task Manager, switch to the Processes tab, click the "Show Processes from All Users" checkbox at the bottom, then sort the view by CPU descending. This will show if there are any processes perhaps consuming a large amount of CPU time. Right now I have firefox at the top of the list at 40+%, then System Idle Process. Nothing else really sticks out.
2) Where does the choppiness occur? In all text boxes regardless of the application (in other words, in your web browser, word processor, etc) or just in your web browser? If the latter, what web browser do you use where you notice this behavior? The chippiness occurs every where, IE, firefox, office program. I type in text on here, facebook, etc, and the letters don't always appear right away. It's very annoying.
3) Are you running the absolute latest chipset, network, and graphics driver for your laptop, preferably the Win7 versions of the drivers? When I installed W7, I just went with the Windows Update and downloaded and installed what it suggested.
4) Did you do an upgrade in place or a clean install of Win7? I did a complete install, formatted my HD and every thing. I actually did it twice just to see if the problem would be resolved.
5) What is your antivirus and what version? Since I just installed this and did not download anything that would give me a virus, I did not install one yet. But, I usually use avast,
6) Scan for malware lately? No.
