I was just recommending W7 to my cousin who is still on XP when I realised that I didn't know exactly how long and to what extent Microsoft will continue support. He could manage 8.1 if he had to.

Until 2020 is the ending date for win-7 support not sure of the month,
If you want a oem get it soon or they will be all gone :)

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Mainstream support for Windows 7 ends Jan 13 2015. Extended support ends Jan 14 2020. But for practical purposes there isn't much difference between the two. Windows update (including new updates) will continue until 2020.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

From the looks of some of the update FUBARs I think they already gave up on Win 7. While they do wanted to stay rich maybe some little guys our here deserve a break now and then. Not very well known, but we pay for free stuff.
