Windows 7: Wandering cursor in win 7 live mail and word 10

Glad it helped. I'd also want to compare a Clean Reinstall which often solves similar problems that can be caused by poorly written bloatware. Chances are more meager software which Win7 delivers could avoid this, or it is often caused by confluence of bloatware none of which is needed.

So you can uninstall all the bloatware then run Updates to see what Win7 wants it replaced with, or save a backup image to wipe the drive and start fresh with a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which has vastly improved performance for over a million consumers here without a single complaint. You could even shrink C to reinstall from boot to compare side by side.

Or you can keep what you have and always wonder what could have been if you had nAtive Win7 and not a ruined shell of it.

Windows 7 64bit

I followed the advice in this thread to try to address a wandering cursor issue in Windows 7, on a Toshiba Z30 laptop. I uninstalled the Alps driver and let Windows install the driver of its choosing.

I'll have to wait and see if the problem is solved, because it is intermittent.

But one thing that seems odd about sticking with this solution is that the driver Windows selected by searching online is from 2006 (whereas the most recent driver from Toshiba is from the end of 2016).

Do I really want to stick with such an old driver (I'm a little worried it could have security bugs)?

I also lose setting for all the special touchpad features, although I don't really use them.
