Fan running much more AFTER upgrading hard drive to SSD!

Hi all I have an ASUS Zenbook which I just upgraded by swapping out the hard drive for an SSD. I reinstalled Windows 7 Home (64 bit) and other programs I use, all from scratch. As expected the laptop is faster than before. However, the fan is running much more than before, which surprises me, as I expected the opposite, especially after cleaning out a large quantiity of dust that had build up inside the machine. Any suggestions/tips how to debug this issue? thanks

Monitor for overheating to know if that is truly the issue: Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Compare the reinstall you did to the perfect one compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

There may have been fan software in your previous install that controlled the fan, was there ? You can also look in the bios for any way to control the fan, there usually is a way.

Thanks. I've updated some of the drivers that the clean install had undone.
