    Only recognising 1GB RAM


    Hi I have just upgraded to Windows 7 from XP...
    I have 2GB RAM installed on my laptop but for some reason Windows 7 is only recognising 1GB ?

    Reboot into bios and check if it set to 2 gigs

    Check if you have Memory remapping option in BIOS enabled.

    Thanks for the quick replies! Just had a look on the BIOS, it is only set to 1GB? :S

    Before we check the Memory remapping, Your BIOS is only recognising 1GB of your 2?

    hmm, so for the last year its been telling you that your running 1GB, but you physically have 2GB installed?

    Possibly one of your Ram Sticks is faulty?

    No, sorry my fault for lack of detail lol. For the past year or so I have had Windows XP installed with 2GB RAM running. Since formatting my hard drive and doing a clean install of Windows 7, I have just realised when I went on System Information that it says 1GB

Hi all. As of a few days ago, computer not recognising plugged in USB hard drives. Have to assign drive letter via Disk Management to access the drive. I don't understand why this should suddenly occur. I am not aware of anything untoward happening that results in this very annoying glitch....

The BIOS sees it. System Info for Windows sees it, but shows no drive letter. Device Mangler lists all 3 drives, but is not much help because Properties shows no Volume or capacity for any of the HDDs. Can I assume this drive is an unformatted blank? How do I format it if Win is not seeing it? ...
