I wanted to transfer a 12GB folder to a flash drive with 14GB free space. But the system told me that there was not enough space. How come ??

Is it a large file (or set of large files), or is it a bunch of small files? Also, what is the filesystem on the source, and destination? It's possible that due to the number and size of the files, and the allocation tables, that there will actually be more space used on the destination when copying the data from the source.
So, it's a larger set of files with only a few folders - what's the source and destination file systems?
What does the flash drive's Properties say it has for Space Available? If less than it should be I'd wipe it with Diskpart Clean All Command and do a full NTFS format.
Aha, I see where the problem is. The stick is Fat32 and the vmdk is 12GB. I did not think of that because I usually format in NTFS. Thanks for helping me out.
If I may step in here with a side note. Whenever I get a new stick I format EXFAT. Seems to cover all the bases. Art.
