laptop fails to hibernate, tried all possible solutions.

i looked all around on yahoo answers and other forums, and i tried everything they said, and nothing helped. when i hibernate it, the hard drive works real hard, then just stops short, stays powered on with black screen, but hard drive is not working. everything else works fine, but hibernation. any ideas? windows 7 ultimate 64-bit running on dell latitude d620

this is a strip down version of windows 7, its named blue alienware edition, but after some updates, it says windows 7 ultimate at the login screen. to simplify it, its windows 7 ultimate with an alienware skin package, and it is running on a dell latitude d620 laptop.

If you have a COA, why don`t you install a legitimate version of windows .

As far as I know Microsoft has never made a blue alienware edition.

So we need to start from square 1.

hibernation is enabled, and i did that command. i did mess with some stuff in the bios, but i didnt think any of it had to do with hibernation, or had the possibility to screw it up. one thing i did change was HDD performance mode.(i say this because i know hibernation writes the stuff to the hard drive to save your work) it was on "minimal", but i changed it to "performance". could that have messed it up?
