Opening ISO (CD image) files

    UltraIso (ISO CD DVD image creator, editor and ISZ DMG DAA UIF to ISO converter - UltraISO can extract/create/edit/convert CD and DVD image files directly, make bootable CDs and convert ISZ DMG DAA UIF to ISO.) will allow you to
    1. Open up and see what is inside
    2. Open up, make changes (add things, take things away), and save as a new .iso
    3. Create nifty new .iso's in all sorts of different sizes (CD Size, DVD-5 size, etc)
    4. Mount .img and .iso files to its own virtual drive (included)
    5. you can specify how many virtual drives you want on your system, easily changable.

    No muss, no fuss. Great program. Lots of uses

    FYI: System Requirements:
    Windows 7/2008/Vista/2003/XP (32bit and 64bit), Windows 2000, ME, 98SE, 98

    there used to be a 3rd party add-on which integrates in the explorer (right-click menu) to mount/unmount images. dunno if it's still available for win7 though.
    This is now built into Daemon-Tools (it is a selectable installation option) - and works very well with Windows 7.

    I got all excited about that.......then i saw the price tag
    Seriously though, that looks a good bit of kit, looks like i'll have to save some of my pocket-money to get me one!!

    I always thought that was for burning ISO image to CD, not for opening the IOS image as though it were a CD. What do you think?

    Correct, you cannot open .ISO files without a 3rd party app in Windows 7.

    There must be a simple command built into Windows 7 that can be easily accessed? All of these 3rd party apps are not re-inventing the wheel.

    It is very easy to mount .vhd drives.

    I should really try this, not judge by Vista/XP's crappy burner. Thanks.

    It has the similar interface to Scan utility which I also briefly sneered at, making a note to install HP's scanning utility. Well, 50 scans later and it is proven now to be much better than the HP one, just not as pretty.

    Win7 is better everything.

    This is off-topic, but the one time I tried to burn an ISO to CD in Vista I ended up with a file on the CD having the extention .ISO.

I had this issue for a week. I tried to restore a system image I had created in October of last year but each time I tried to recover it from the System Recovery Disc, there were no images found. I was driving me up the wall and no one on the various forums I looked at seemed to have the solution....
My wife has Win7 home premium x64 on her laptop and is using Word 2007. The problem she is having is she will open a word file, change it up, save it, then re-open it later and its the old file not the new one. Where as I can open the edited file on my desktop running the same OS but with Word...
