Okay the part time cook is back.
What does this mean from your post #89

Hmm.. would it be the problem that I had installed this Windows 7 using a laptop?

Yes my motherboard has it's own display adapter.

Thanks for finally telling us, possibly wasting all of this effort. Why is intel board graphics not in your specs?

Is this Dual Graphics, yes or no? If you are unsure download your mobo Manual now from support site to study it.

Please disable Nvidia in Device Manager and run with updated Intel to test.

Are you saying this was installed on another laptop and moved to this PC without aDjustment? If so why was none of this mentioned?

Excuse me, but can you please show me exactly where you confirmed running Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) as I cannot find it in the thread, only you asking me how this is done after I'd posted the link twice.

I notice that in reporting back results of each Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 you confirmed you had established a Clean Boot according to Step 7 but then the screenshots posted later showed this had not been done.

There are also other steps without response. In similar cases the skipped step is almost always the fix. In cases where there is close cooperation these issues are always (as in 100%) solved in thousands of cases I've helped with here.

You are making a real effort to cooperate but some things are being skipped, overlooked or misinterpreted.

What about the Repair Install which is Step 19 and seems indicated here once Bill's more in-depth hardware and infection testing are complete?
Also, I was able to make a bootable Windows 7 x64bit Service Pack 1 using the "Repair Install" guide on this website. Should I go ahead and complete Step 19 of the Troubleshooting tutorial first to repair install the Windows?
Please wait for Greg to advise.

I don't know what you mean by dual graphics. If you meant if I have an intel graphics adapter (as in from the processor) and an actual graphics card that is the gtx 970, then yes.

I just disabled the Nvidia in device manager and took it out of the case. There are no drivers with it too. Now I'm running Intel Graphics accelerator only.
And yes, I installed Windows using my old laptop, then moved it to my desktop. I didn't think that'd be a problem. I had no idea you have to change things when you switch motherboard. I only installed it using the laptop though, I didn't download drivers or anything. I only did that when I moved it to my desktop.

So how is it performing using Intel?

I don't think it is Dual Graphics if this was a self-build. Who built it? The Dual Graphics is normally an Intel onboard chip and an Nvidia controller that switches to Nivida on heavier tasks. As I said this would be discussed in your Manual if this is the way the build came and it was preinstalled Dual Graphics, or you would know about it if you built it yourself.

Maybe the Intel is sufficient for your needs and will run well enough, but if not then the problems you're having with your Nvidia may be related to changing hardware without the drivers being changed out correctly for all the controllers. Did you notice when you moved the HD that it swapped out most drivers? Are drivers associated with your laptop still in the Device Manager installed on this build too?

I cannot think of a case I've seen lately that needs Clean Reinstall Windows 7 more than this one. If you stick with the tools and methods in that tutorial then you will achieve and maintain a perfect install for as long as you do.

MGA = retail Ultimate and looks ok

Did you restart the machine after removing the NVidia card?
If not, please do restart it.

Then tell me how the applications and browsers are behaving after you pulled the NVidia card?
    Any application or browser crashes?

edit: Greg beat me to the question.

@Greg, I agree - I believe the NVidia was an add-on, Intel is onboard.

I'd say that it's crashing about the same. Doesn't the Intel graphics come with the processor? That was my thought..

How do i check if the laptop drivers are still in my computer? I did not have internet when I first ran Windows, so no updates went through.

Also, I built this computer myself. My roommate also used my laptop to install his windows and it's running with no problems. Is this really that big of an issue? I recently just bought a disk drive, so if i have to I'll just go ahead and reformat the other ssd and see how it runs.

Yes I did make sure to restart. The crashes didn't really stop or change in frequency. I think you're right on saying that Intel is onboard.

    I'm stumped.

    Nothing is overclocked
Only one good RM in one good slot
NVidia card uninstalled and physically removed.
    tut: Clean Start
    tut: Troubleshooting Windows
and a few other things have not helped.

Clean install would be the way to go methinks.

I think you and Greg should have the final word
Give him some time to ring in on the topic of a Clean Install.

    Bill
