    I use my laptop in various places, with varying lighting, so I've pinned Windows Mobility Centre to the taskbar for easy access. (Start - All Programs - Accessories - right click WMC)
    Your graphics drivers/control panel may also have an extra brightness adjustment control

    OK fellas Boot into the BIOS, "hit F2 on startup"
    Scroll down to Video
    Brightness, adjust the bar to maximum.
