    Favorites in Explorer navigation pane

We are running terminal servers with roaming profiles. Recently we built a new farm of terminal servers and i had to reset someones profile. When they log back in their favorites (i.e. Desktop, Downloads) are hidden. I can go to show hidden files and unhide them but when they log out and back in they are hidden again.

    Hello pcowanabbb,

Opening an elevated command prompt in that user account, and running the command below for any affected user folder should restore it's default attributes. :)

So the folder itself is not hidden. Just the shortcut to it under favorites in the left hand navigation pane.

    Sorry, I see now.

You should be able to use OPTION ONE below to set the attribute of the shortcuts in Favorites to not be hidden.

Unfortunately that only works during my current session if I log off and log back on they are hidden once again..

Odd that setting the attribute doesn't stick.

If you mean setting to not show hidden files/folders like on your 1st post, then that's not what that tutorial is for.

No I can show hidden files and that doesn't change but that can't be the answer I give future users with this problem as I don't want them seeing all the hidden files. If I go into the properties of the file and uncheck the hidden box they are hidden after I log back in.

As a test, try toggling to hide then unhide the parent folder while checking the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and file" each time to see if that may stick instead.

If not, then you could see if just deleting these shortcuts in Favorites, and creating news ones will work without being hidden.
