Windows glitches freezes every few seconds after running. ga-ep43-ud3l

Hi everyone, Have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a few months now, so i thought i would ask for some help. So thanks in advance... :)

    System:
    Gigabyte ga-ep43-ud3l
Kingston SSD running windows / WD Black Caviar 1.5T Storage
    2 x 2Gig ADATA Ram
NEW Asus HD 5450 Silent Video Card

My system usually works fine after a shutdown. It may work fine for a few mins or hours... Then,,,
my system will quickly glitch or pause every 2-4 seconds after running. The mouse, video and sound all glitch every few seconds. The system is still usable in this state, but its a pain in the butt. Putting system to sleep will not resolve, needs full shutdown.

So it seems like a ram problem, since a full shutdown resolves the problem... but I have tried to alternate ram (1 at a time) and try different locations but still same issue, I only have the 2 matching ram chips to test with...

    I have tried:
-Format windows (Both Win 7 Ultimate and Home)
-Test Ram individually and in alternate locations
-Just replaced video card (Asus HD 5450 Silent)

    Now what...
-Well I am wondering if I should buy another ram chip to test, but am unsure because i have tested both ram individually and both do the same thing.
... Maybe a ram testing program would do the trick??

-Anyone think this could be a power supply issue?
-Lastly possibly bad motherboard or processor, but seems less likely.

    Thanks for your support :)

What changes were made at the time this problem arose? Think hard.

Work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 from the top.

ITs been happening for a long time, I cannot recall any changes that started the issue.

I purchases the motherboard and ram just over 1 year ago. System was working fine, didn't really mod anything since then. The processor is a few years older

I had a video card with a noisy fan, so i though that was issue, but new card didn't fix problem.
The only other thing plugged in is a wireless card which i guess i havn't tried to remove.

Anyone know of a good ram checking program?

My mouse movement freezes, the audio makes a glitchy sounds, any video freezes , and the picture in monitor no noticeable affects
So its about 1/4 second glitch every 2-5 seconds sometimes every 10 seconds

Is it possible it could be a processor malfunction. I am unfamiliar with processor failure. Perhaps a processor checking program as well?

You can stress test your CPU using Passmark: PassMark BurnInTest software - PC Reliability and Load Testing

I'd add it to the hardware tests preceding the Windows tests.

Furmark says it is a GPU tester. Does it test CPU as well? I cant find a reference for this

    Found a program called Prime95
    Download Prime95 - MajorGeeks

Sorry I meant PassMark, though Prime95 is suggested a lot here too. PassMark BurnInTest software - PC Reliability and Load Testing

Yeah Passmark BurnInTest! thats more like it :).

BurnInTest found 140 Errors on CPU fot "temperature threshold exceeded". Lol no kidding! Test Failed.

    Solution:
Removed heat sink. Thermal paste was pretty dry.
Put on a thick layer of paste and reseated.

    BurnInTest PASS :)[/B]

Computer feels smoother already. Highly recommended program. Found a great portable version

    Take care,

Yes, overheating is one of the first things dealt with in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

I'd still install Core Temp (Declining the adware during free install) to monitor temps in system tray, set Overheat Protection to Hibernate.

Well the problem is back... but not as bad.

I got core temp running now and temps seems ok. Although i did turn overheat alarm on in cmos and it goes off when coming out of sleep mode.

BurnInTest gives Ram and CPU a pass... even as the problem is happening. Sometimes when it finished a test the computer will start running smooth again.

    Where does this leave me???
-Well maybe processor is getting old from running hot for so long? But BurnInTest says its ok
-Any possibility this is a motherboard issue.

I will try to upload a video to my server ...

    Thanks n advance :)
