Um caps lock key blinks twice when power is connected. Also screen is completly blank. No beeps. And when power is disconnected and reconnected the laptop powers on without having to press anything. But just powers nothing actually happens. I have tested other things and i now have win 7 installed on the hdd. The ram is fine and screen is fine. It was all going good before i did this so thats why i assuming the bios is deleted or currepted
Unpllug power and battery, hold Power button down 30 seconds. Then plug in power cord to see if anything changes.
You have to flash the BIOS chip on mobo to wipe or update it. If you didn't do that then you more likely changed a setting in your BIOS that is causing it's display not to work? Can you remember what you changed in BIOS, and if not why would you mess in the BIOS without specific instructions about what to do? It can be very unforgiving.
I think what I'd try next is to google your model for replacing CMOS battery or disassembly and then carefully remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
However this is so risky if you place any value on the laptop I would take it to a shop. Here in the states the Best Buy Geek Squad will run enough tests to tell you what the problem is before you even have to pay. I make an appt with them first so I can stand there at the counter to hear the results.
To be honest i dont really know what i did or howthe issue arised from me trying to solve one thing and made life worse lol. It was a little wile ago i did this and just etting back to it now. I do remember that when i tried to swap between 8 and 7 it did come up with a bios error of some sort. And i have tried disconnecting power and coms bat as this solved the issue the fiart time but ive seemed to muck something else up now assuming its the bios and i have tried the coms bat again etc with no joy. Also im im NZ :) might give hp a cal sometime and ask them to

When i looked up that perticular blink it says its a bios issue thats why ive been mentioning that figiring it was that

There are settings in BIOS that need to be disabled before attempting a downgrade
- the OEM is really the only entity that can provide the downgrade key (I think)
Yes but the windows key + b doesnt do anything sadly so based on tgat im gessing that there is nothing at all there ill have another troll through the form but im thinking i neda somehow flash bios back on or aomething along those lines
