If you only tried Windows + B keys then the instructions were not followed correctly at all. They are quite specific and involve three keys in sequence given.
If you don't remember anything you did in BIOS, or can't converse with us about the settings involved we deal with here every day to downgrade, then you're better off taking it to a shop or asking HP to service for you.
Stop worrying about it and get the bios fixed.
You should have a COA with a key on it, once you fix the bios we will go from there.
Let`s get the laptop back up and running, one step at a time.
Step #1 Fix the bios, report back when you get that done.

I worry because its the gf computer haha in the dog box until its done. I tried following instructions but ill give it a go again and also give hp a call to confirm and get tips. Once i get bios back on its simple enough to go from there also i do have the win 7 key :). Thanks for the chat and time guys report back later on with details on what i get up to.
You should not have touched her laptop, you are not a computer technician, and look what it got you
Haha yea bad idea in retrospect thought i could but atleadt ive learned alot :) its been interesting. And we have others so its not a big deal on how long it takes
