I use ImgBurn 2X with verify... but it should also work the way gregrocker posted above.

You cannot mount an ISO inside an OS to install an OS....

That was the problem. Burn it to a disk first, then install from there.

Actually....you can do that with Windows Vista and 7. It will copy all of the required files over before it reboots the computer. It nolonger need the media after that point.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I went ahead and backed up all my important stuff, downloaded all installers the I would eventually need, and formatted my HDD. I went with the clean win7 install, and it worked like a charm. It's definitely faster than when I had Vista (rather than 10x slower with the botched install). No problems at all so far, other than the fact that I spent an entire day getting my PC back to normal. Anyways, thanks again.

Enjoy.

Remember it should stay feather light, instantaneous, no bogs or hangs.

If not, look for free riders in msconfig>startup programs, do your Disk Cleanup and Defrag on schedule.

You do not have to settle for less with Win7, ever.
