    Win7's magnifier loses taskbar

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bits with the taskbar on the right side. I have any program open with the program's window maximized. When I open Win7's magnifier, the program's window goes full screen with the right side of the window under the taskbar. When I close magnifier, the window remains in full screen and the taskbar disappears.

To get the taskbar back I have to press "ctrl+escape" which displays the taskbar and then drag in an empty portion of the taskbar.

If I move Win7's taskbar to the bottom, the same thing happens except the right side of the program's window is not covered by the taskbar since the taskbar is at the bottom. Closing the magnifier causes the taskbar at the bottom to disappear.

Is there a way to fix this magnifier behavior in Win7?

BTW, I'm running Win8.0 with the Classic Shell in my laptop. The magnifier in Win8.0 does not cause the taskbar to disappear.

Is there a way to replace "magnifier.dll" and "magnify.exe" in Win7 with the ones from Win8.0? When I tried to replace them, Win7 said that I do not have trusted installer permission (or something like that) and would not let me replace them.

    Thanks for any help,
    Skyzoomer

I was able to take ownership of the magnification.dll file. I renamed it to magnificationOrig.dll. Then I pasted the magnification.dll from Win8.0. No change in the magnifier behavior.

I took ownership of the magnify.exe file. I renamed it to magnifyOrig.exe. Then I pasted the magnify.exe from Win8.0. The magnifier would not open at all. So I deleted the Win8.0 magnify.exe and renamed magnifyOrig.exe back to magnify.exe and the magnifier works again but with the same behavior.

In Win8.0, the magnifier window follows the cursor around. In my version of Win7, the magnifier window is stationary. Is there a version of the Win7 magnifier that has the magnifier window following the cursor around? If so, where can I get a copy of that magnify.exe file?

    Thanks,

    Thank you

Skyzoomer, you are a star as this behaviour has been driving me nuts. On occasions I have been losing my task bar but didn't realise that the magnifier was the cause. Then it twigged and thus armed I Googled around and found your thread. At least if it happens I can do Ctrl / Esc and get it back so thank you.
