Gateway LT-3119U Will Not Power Up

    Hello,
I have a Gateway LT-3119U that stopped working two days ago. When the charger is plugged in, the unit will not power up. The LED in the Power Button does not light up and the battery indicator light not working as well. I measured 19.5V at the output of the charger, so it would appear the machine is getting power. Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Unplug power and battery, hold power button down for 30 seconds. Plug it all back in and try to power up? Any sign of life?

    Hi there

If you can - remove the battery and then see if the machine will power up.

These sorts of problems can be solved generally by considering the following options.

    1) Mains outlet working correctly -- easy to test simply plug in another device and see if mains is working
    2) Fuse in the plug (probably not in US plugs but European ones often have a separate fuse embedded into the plug) - check the fuse if you have one of these plugs.
    3) Mains charger Faulty - this will show up if the machine fails to power on with the battery removed.
    4) Battery Faulty -- this will show up if the computer won't power on if the battery is connected or won't hold any charge.

If BOTH 3 AND 4 FAIL then Laptop itself is BUST - you'll have to get it repaired.

    Cheers
