Ya, it was updated shortly after the problematic K-Lite's Codec Pack 10.X release.
A day after my involvement with this thread it hit me Autoruns was the easiest way of fixing this problem (other than uninstalling). The worst part is I use Autoruns all the time; it's my malware checker, it will find almost everything but a buffer overflow or rootkit.
Autoruns - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...rnals/bb963902
A scanner I rarely use - autoruns is an effortless way to disable all of it's drivers (and third party software) until it's next use. The NVIDIA graphics driver has become bloat-ware and a lot can go (4 of 5 services alone can be disabled).
So happens I installed the full K-Lite Codec Pack just a few days ago, I felt it a fix for a video format/container that I can't get to play on any player,(VLC, Media Player Classic, Total Video Player, or ACDSee Photo Management Software). Total Video Converter doesn't last long at all working with any video of it's type.
The Codec pack installs the program "MediaInfo" on the right click context menu, so I know what I'm working with, just at a loss as to the fix. Codec's are a subject I've never paid any attention to or bothered with before, so each step is a learning process.
Matroska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia write up is as it becoming the next big thing. Until then I don't watch "those" videos.
Container : Matroska
Writing application : mkvmerge v5.8.0 ('No Sleep / Pillow')
Writing library : libebml v1.2.3 + libmatroska v1.3.0
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Least we forget Autoruns, it shows all of the installed Codec's as being available as configured when the OS becomes available.
It was the Wikiedia entry that I might of gotten a break, it links to MKVTooNix and appears one is able to analyze, modify and mayhaps easily convert the files, and another path to take MKVToolNix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The videos aren't that important and stand a good chance of being deleted as garbage just few seconds in, just getting them to run is well a challenge at this time. kinda like the way your reply keeping me occupied for awhile :)
