Some of my folders have been coloured red, and can't be opened.

I have just accessed a folder which contains several files and related folders, and find that the folders are coloured red with the folder titles replaced by numbers (R.F. 08022013141205257205855 for example). The folders are inaccessible. Other files are unaffected. I have also had this happen to back-up folders kept on a CD, which is a bit worrying. I am running Win.7 Pro. 32 bit. Any help appreciated.

So folder names on CD change to numbers without your interference?

What error message when you try to open the folders?

Sorry about the delay in replying, but we have had a wedding in the family, and it's been frenetic.
Yes, the numbers appear without any apparent external help. I have just checked some of the folders, and they appear to be empty (12kb). When this occurs on a CD, the folders are coloured turquoise, by the way, not red. When I click on a folder, it comes up as a turquoise or red folder icon in Windows Photo Viewer. These would appear to be possibly just icons? Baffling.
