Win 7 fails to boot (and install) on Asus Zenbook UX31

    Hi,

My zenbook restarted and Win gave me to new options:
    - Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
    - Start Windows Normaly

If i choose the second one it gets stuck on loading screen and after a while BIOS UI goes on
If i choose repair option, eventually i ll get to the System Recovery Options screen, after i choose language i ll get to the screen with two options :
    - Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows. Select an operating system to repair.
    - Restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier

with chance to load drivers. I tried to load drivers but with no luck as i only have option to search Boot(X:) 33 Mb hard drive.
Next window is the one with repair tools. There i tried with Startup Repair which also fails with a diagnosis and repair details:
    .
    . some successful test
    .
    Root cause found:
A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding

Which is kinda strange , because i have created boot usb and at the start up i get to choose if i want to boot from usb or SanDisk's ssd 128gb.

I have also created Ubuntu flash and got Ubuntu from usb up and running. During that time i tested my ssd with Ubuntu test tool and got one error found.

I tried creating second Win 7 boot usb by following directions from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
and with it i tried to reinstall Win 7 but after i choose language and setup starting part gets finished
    i get

and when browse for drivers again i only get Boot(X:) drive shown.

Any help i can get is much appreciated! Thanks!

Start with the first step to confirm the HD's presence in BIOS setup and then proceed with the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

These try everything possible to start the OS leading up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Factory Recovery or do the superior Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

If problems persist during the reinstall then Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums

    - Start with the first step to confirm the HD's presence in BIOS setup

Afterward i tried booting in safe mode with networking , but it got stuck at:

Then i tried to start Directory Service Repair. It got stuck at the same place, though this time it ended with:

    I tried to
    Code:
    list disk
(from command promt) but no disk were shown and i tried
    Code:
    bootsect
    with no result:

I also tried more then once to install it from usb but with no luck it is always asking me to load drivers. Win image was made according to instructions ( i couldnt download orginal one cuz MS was saying that it is already installed on my Zenbook, so i downloaded the one from kickass and made image using UltraISO)

    Pls, help.:)

    X is the repair media.

You should be running the bootrec commands from Use Bootrec.exe in the Windows RE to troubleshoot startup issues, and bootsect command from How To Use Bootsect /nt60 To Update the Volume Boot Code to BOOTMGR

Where did you get the other commands?

Please follow the steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which try everything possible to start the OS.

I tried everything from Troubleshooting guide , except 9. and 10. because i cannot even try that.

bootrec /fixmbr returns The system cannot find the path specified , as every other option for bootrec

    bootsect /nt60 sys returns:

Target volumes wil be updated with BOOTMGR compatible bootcode.
The system partition was not found:
The system cannot find the path specified.

When i go to my computer while trying to load drivers there is only 33Mb X drive. If i do diskpart.exe and then list disk i get There are no fixed disks to show.

I have no idea what can i do more. Could it be that ssd is dead(but somehow showing in bios)?

Thanks for being patient with me.

Was the PC previously set to UEFI boot?

I see the SSD in BIOS Boot order, but is it listed under Storage devices, or HD boot priority? Anywhere else but Boot order?

If the SSD isn't showing up in Diskpart but is in BIOS, then I'd test it using the maker's ToolBox diagnostics. You get free tech support for a year from purchase, and having them help you test it sets it up better for RMA.

You can also enable UEFI Boot and any other UEFI settings (disabling CSM, Legacy BIOS and Secure Boot) in BIOS, then format the flash stick using Option One of UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows making sure the settings stay put after loading the ISO, and that the ISO passes HASH check from Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7 to know it is intact.

Then boot the flash stick as UEFI device in order to install, in case the disk formatting is what's keeping it from being detected.

Can you try DVD for repairs or install?

Try another drive in PC for install.

SSD is also listed in SATA Configuration part

It wasn't set to UEFI boot.

I dont have dvd drive in zenbook.

Damn my options are getting tighter...

I would try UEFI install first. Disable Secure Boot, set UEFI to enable, make the UEFI flash stick carefully, boot it as UEFI device, delete all partitions, install.
