Ok, this is scaring me: d/l starts without a prompt

    www.steinberg.net

^ is the link to a thread of another board I am a member of. The op contains a dropbox link. I clicked on it, expecting to d/l it - but I am expecting to be prompted first. I wasn't - as soon as I clicked the link, the d/l started immediately, and the view d/ls box did not even populate.

Here is a thread from another board I am on:

v.i. control forum • View topic - Upgraded Variations on a Theme by Beethoven [ Guest ]

The op has a link there as well; when I clicked on that link, I was prompted to save first, as expected.

So, WTH? Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? Stuff like this scares me - stuff d/l-ing without being prompted. Is this a new "internet feature" that is upon us, or...?

    Thanks for any insight.

    What browser do you use?
In Firefox for example you get a prompt, but can be easily set to always download without a prompt.
Also Google Chrome will download without a prompt.

No conspiracies, just a decision a company made.

You can make Chrome ask before download by ticking a checkbox by going to chrome://settings/advanced and going to Downloads.

    Have a good day ^^.
