Someone who did nothing but game might well prefer a standard hard drive and a $300 video card than an SSD and a $230 video card. And maybe a $140 CPU rather than a $190 CPU if it meant a better video card could be bought with the saved money.
An SSD is noticeable mostly when you boot and open applications. For other stuff, it's nice, but not a night and day difference from an HDD.
All that is stuff you have to sort out with your father and uncle.
You've got $70 worth of headphones, mice, and keyboards that can likely be reduced if necessary.
