    find pdf file


    how can i find a pdf file that i know exists but is not in my documents folder??

    You could use the command prompt to find all files with a pdf extension using the dir /s command.

    Or you could download a program like Everything from voidtools.com and let it scan your drive for all files containing the text string "pdf".

    I'm assuming you can't remember the full file name. You'd just have to hope you can recognize it when you see it in the results from either the dir /s command or the Everything search tool.

    You need a PDF viewer.

    I use PDF-XChange Viewer, a free download from here:

    Tracker Software Products :: Downloads

    Scroll down to get it. It's the second item listed. It's free.

    If it won't open the PDF file, the file is likely corrupt.
