    Windows Explorer and My Documents

I came to Win 7 from XP. I am used to the following. I create a directory called C:\Data. I put all my data files here because it makes it easy to copy lots of files from one place. In XP I renamed the location for the My Documents directory to C:\Data.

I supposed I could do the same thing in Win 7, and I can, and I did, and it worked, with a catch. Now, when I look at the directory for my C drive I no longer see a "Data" Directory. It has been replaced by a Directory named My Documents. I have other documents that look for a pathing statement of c:\Data.

I see that in the General Tab of the properties for My documents I can change the name from My Documents to anything I want (Like "Data". I am just afraid to change it, however, because if I do, I wonder if Windows 7 will still think of the new directory as My Documents.

    Any help appreciated.

I think you moved the documents folder. It isn't necessary for Windows 7. Leave your data in the Documents folder where it belongs or create a new library.
