Copy/move filename conflicts - any Windows 8-like solution?

Windows 8 came with a new and improved copy/move dialog box, described here. For me, the most important improvement is the filename conflict resolution.

I wonder if there is some solution like that for Windows 7, maybe a plug-in or app?

I need such a solution mostly to solve conflicts when copying and pasting images from websites by dragging and dropping directly onto my desktop, which I do a lot of times a day.

    Any idea? TIA.

What do you mean by "Conflicts" and what trouble do you have when dragging and dopping in Windows 7? The link you posted is a long diatribe on Win 8 new features. Few of us have the time to read the whole lot on the off chance of finding what you refer to! A few more details would help us to help you!

Thanks for that. It seems a completely new feature of Win 8 and I don't know of any application that might achhieve the same on Windows 7. This is perhaps one of the few reasons why a move to Win 8 might be a good idea. It's easy enough to boot Win 8 into the desktop mode and a couple of clicks to create the start orb!

    Supercopier?

A quick search turned up this list of programs:
7 Super Tools For Faster Windows File Copy / Move Process

TeraCopy has some similar features to the W8 tool.

Supercopier also sounds similar to the W8 tool.

mitchell65, when I drag some images from websites or e-mail messages onto my desktop, many times there are conflicts. Simply put, Windows 7 tells me there is an image with the same name already and offers me the option to replace it or cancel, forcing me to rename or move the existing image so I can copy the new one on the desktop.

Windows 8, as they say, solves that kind of conflict giving me the option to keep both images by adding a number to the most recent one.

I do that "drag-to-copy" a lot, and many of the images are named like, say, "1", or "01", or "image1", or "xxxx"... you get it, repeated again and again.

It would be nice for me having such a "conflict resolution" in Windows 7.

    When? Where?

I know there are some situations when Windows 7 offers the option to rename. but can't remember it now...

    Append Number

Windows 7 usually offers to append a number to a duplicate file (it does on my PC).

Yes, but only when copying or moving between drives or folders inside the system, not from the Web like in my case in point.
