Changing the name of the computer?

    Unfortunately, the registry tweak did not work. I restarted the computer after applying the attributes, but to no avail. I guess ill just live with the issue for now. Thanks everyone,

    Changing a folder name will not change the actual account name...tried that once, nogo, at least for me it was.
    Creating a fresh account, copying over appdata local locallaw roaming, configuring taskbar pins & notifications, reCreating desired desktop, Personalizations sets, finally after getting the 2nd account looking and acting very much like the 1st account, then delete the 1st account.

I changed the name of my computer in System Properties. Now, both the old computer (name) and the new show up in the explorer network tree. How do I get rid of the old name (on all the computers on the network)? This PC is Win 7 Pro 64 bit.
I had an HP (G50-N112NR) with a bad hard drive (running Vista). I had a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5974 with a problem with the MB (running Windows 7). Today, I switched out the HD's - putting the one from the Toshiba into the HP (the HP had the dead HD). It booted up beautifully, seems to be working...
