Input ignored after a few minutes.

I've had no problem with this before (not in the beta either), but suddenly, my computer just started to ignore input after a random amount of time.

I can press a few keys like Windows Key + L, move the mouse, etc.

But if I click the mouse or press a key, nothing happens.


I can work for some time, then suddenly it locks like that. I then click around and trying to type thinking it's frozen, and it just stays like that. Though, it's not frozen as everything with animation is still moving, and sound keeps going, I just can't click or press keys.


I then found out that if I press Windows Key + L to go to the "Switch user" screen, all the clicks and keypresses I did while it was frozen are processed, and it's all back to normal, for a random amount of time.

This is getting really annoying. I can write whole essays when it locks up, then hit Windows Key + L and watch it all type in -.-

I cannot understand your description. Win+L = Lock Workstation.

It also has a "Switch User" button when you do that...hence the poster referring to it as the Switch User screen.

When the workstation is locked, CTL+ALT+DEL does not function. Without regard to what the OP calls the locked screen, I do not understand the description. I can formulate possible translations, but everything turns left with...

The OP seems to be describing an opposite result, as if Win+L locks the screen, processes keystroles/clicks and then unlocks the screen.

I would look for something pegging the CPU.

All wired. PS/2 keyboard, USB mouse.

Ctrl+Alt+Del still works, along with combinations like the Windows Key + L.



When the whole thing locks up, I have to press Windows Key + L. Then all the clicks and keys are processed, the "locked" screen pops up, and then I click my username to go back to Windows.

This is getting on my nerves.

It can get as bad as 15 seconds.

It's normally only when I play games. As soon as there are more than a few enemies, everything I do has a delay.

It's like playing a game where the movement keys has been inverted >:< It's impossible to play.

I apparently fixed it.

I got a file from a friend (A game trainer (cheat)), because he wanted to know if it worked for me. So I started it up, and it didn't work, and I forgot all about it.

But then today I saw the file, and thought that I'd better figure out why it didn't work.

So I reverse engineered it, and it turns out that it's a virus. An executable containing 3 executables, which are unpacked when you launch it (Without your consent or knowledge).

The executable is an nBinder executable (Program to make multiple executables in to one).

One of them is a fake window making you think that you've got a trainer, but in fact it doesn't do ****.

The second executable copies the third file to C:\Windows\svchost.exe

And the third executable apparently slows down input and disables input.



At least, after I cleaned my system from it, I've had no problems spawning 300 zombies in Left 4 Dead 2 and still have instant input.


So problem solved. I'm gonna test for a few hours, and if I don't get any issues, I'll know that I fixed it :)

Also, the third executable adds a key to the registry, which makes Windows launch it every time the system boots.
