Windows 7: desktop icons missing

desktop icons missing

after upgrading from vista to windows 7 a lot of my desktop icons are missing (about half?). any ideas on how i might get them back?

Right click on the program icon and choose 'send to desktop'

Missing Desktop Icons
Wasn't this way when I turned my computer off earlier. Anyone know why this might happen?

Realized three or four desktop icons are just gone. I have looked at the desktop/view & "show icons" is checked. I have looked at C;/Users/..../desktop & they are not there. No big deal as I can recreate them as needed but why? thanks, fmg

Desktop Icons Missing
When I save a file to the desktop it doesn't show up. I open windows explorer and it is indeed there, but the icon does not show when I go to the desktop. Only after I re-boot will it show. Can anyone help? Thanks.
