Hello all GB here...total newbie help needed

Save failed win7 hdd info using xp?Hope someone can help. My windows7 pc has the black screen of death. I have tried all of the rescue methods to no avail. The PC is dual boot so I can run xp on it and see data and directories on the win7 corrupted drive. Is it possible to make a usable image file of the win7 hdd using the xp OS? Hope I have explained this clearly...I will be very grateful for any help

Re read post #1 both drives are already a dual boot in the same machine.

He/She just has to repair the Windows 7 install.

Everything is here for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

An image wouldn't be worth more than the OS is right now. Better to repair, or rescue your data to boot the Win7 installation media, delete the 7 partition, create it again while doing a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

Wow....you guys are great...thank you for the responses

AddRAM is exactly right as described in their second post...that is the position. I just need to rescue all of the important data that I could see when the pc was under win7 using the win xp boot.
I have limited know how...but to begin with, viewing the corrupted win7 hdd, where would I locate all of the image folders that where on my windows7 desktop?.....that would be a great start for me?
Thanks again for your help with this :)

What image files? You asked if you could make an image of the failed Win7 install which I explained wouldn't work any better than the OS is now. Do you already have other image files to use? If so to access desktop browse to the Win7 drive letter>Users>Your Named Account>Desktop.

From XP, just click on the Windows 7 drive to browse, after clicking you should see a folder called users, in users will be your account. Everything you want will be in there :)
