Exfat is Extended FAT. Its a new file system that was available in Vista and now 7.

You should be able to either format the drive back to NTFS or goto command line and type convert D: /fs:ntfs

Replace D with whatever drive letter you want to convert.

It's OK, my main goal was to be able to access it, now I can with that update from microsoft.

    THANKS!

I'd stick with 7. Windows XP should die permanently.

    partition ???

in most cases if you want to get what is on that partition off the partition to another drive. download for free a copy of parted magic. it is a Linux biased bootable image that will allow you to mount, copy, you will see all the hidden folders, unmount and edit your partition. it also does backups. once you have your data, then wipe it and make whatever partition and type you want.

I use it with my wifes win7 machine when she has problems. it is compatable with win7 ntfs drives and can also format hfs and ext drives hidden and not hidden. to make the drive bootable go to flags and check the box.

this sounds like a bare bones reinstall so i would repartition and go.

    peace
    luck
    out
