Think of an FPS, then when you quickly shift left right, there is a slight pause if your pc isn't up to the game.

It's really strange, but here are some more people having this problem:

Aero Lag when opening and closing windows in Windows 7

I hope this could be a fix to this..it can be really annoying..but what about that "WDDM 1.1"..when would you think an update will be available?

    Thanks

i have experienced tihs problem on few configurations as well, the last one a good laptop with a 8400 GS video chipset. The laptop was upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and neither Vista had this terrible Aero lag, even though Windows 7 is faster in many things.

I've noticed the same thing on my laptop, it'a very small delay whey closing the window. I must say it's difficult for me as I'm a atotal perfectionist, but it looks like I'll have to live with that. I've also tried quite a few thing including reinstalling drivers etc.

    Solved

Like most people, I've too came across this problem with my Windows 7 x64 Pro.

What tipped me off to the solution was that my system was running perfect until I 1-day launched Virtual XP Mode and came up with an error that the Integration Features failed. From that day on, I too had lags when Maximizing & Minimizing windows.

I tried re-installing Video Drivers but had no effect and that got me thinking. If hardware drivers are fine, then something must be 'piggy-backing' on those drivers which causes the lags..... so I decided to go back to basics.

There is what worked for me.

    - Go to Control Panel > Programs & Features
    - on the left hand side, click on View Installed Updates
    - look for Windows Virtual PC (KB958559) > uninstall it
    - reboot

At this point, you should notice the problem has gone away. Simply re-install KB958559 and get your Virtual XP working again.

    ***NOTE***
This might not work for everyone, but the principle is the same. Try and find what software/feature is piggy-backing off your video drivers and simply remove it.
    Eg. Virtual Machines

If this didn't work for you and you can't seem to fix it, let me know.

I have double checked the list or Hotfixes and Updates included in SP1 and it isn't listed......although, I did a quick search for the word "Virtual" on the Excel Sheet and found an update ...

...(KB977206) "Error message about hardware-assisted virtualization for Windows XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC on a computer that is running Windows 7"

Do you have a virtual machine installed on your computer ?
What Version of Windows 7 do you have ? Pro / Home / Premium ???

If you can, provide a list of installed updates & software installed and we should be able to pinpoint the issue.
