Can't delete file from Desktop (update on numerous older posts)
Windows 7 Pro: I recently wound up with a file on my Desktop: "Jess Meuse & Caleb Johnson -- " (no extension, a space after the two hyphens); file size: 0. Attempts to delete it, move it, etc. resulted in "System can't find the selected file," "No such file exists," etc. I read numerous forum discussions and tried all the solutions -- refresh (nope), restart (nope), try deleting in Safe Mode (nope), go into Command Mode, do a dir /x to get the 8.3 name and delete that (nope -- it had no 8.3 name!), create a new empty file and name it the same (nope -- I couldn't get the space after the hyphens), change the security settings (nope -- none available), etc. One of the posts I'd read had mentioned a program called Deinvfile, so I went to the website to check it out. After seeing a $31.95 price, I emailed them asking about a guarantee, given I only had one file to use it on. I immediately heard back from their Customer Service, pointing out the trial download would do up to three removals without being registered. Downloaded it, installed it, and ran it. NO MORE FILE! I definitely recommend the program!
