Critical Error: no bsod just power off - event id 41

I continually get this, it's occurred (according to error viewer) 135times in the past few months. 3 times today. (BugcheckCode 0)

There is no bsod, no warning of any form it just switches off instantly.

I can restart the computer and it'll work; there's the option to boot into safe mode etc but it runs fine, until the next crash.

As part of my own attempts to resolve this issue, I have cleaned out the dust, but new thermal paste on. Originally I had high temperatures but now I monitor them regularly and never see any noticeable spike prior to a crash. Any help greatly appreciated.

Unless someone can pinpoint event 41, I would try running the machine from a linux boot disk, to see if the problem is hardware or software.

Kernel Power Event ID 41 is just an indicator that the machine didn't shut down cleanly.
