Getting Logged in as Temporary Profile

    Hi, hope someone can help.

Yesterday I did a disk fragment with auslogics disk defrag. First time I used this so am not sure if this is the cause or not.

    I'm on Windows 7 Home.

This morning I booted and things were okay. But I went out for lunch and since then I haven't been able to open since. Every time I restart I get the temporary profile.

I've tried a few 'fixes' like changing the .bak file in the ProfileList in the registry but that doesn't seem to work.

Hope someone can help. I can't get to my files.

PS. Anyway to get access to the files works for me.

    1. It would be great to get the same user (Admin) again. If that's possible.

    2. If not, I'm okay with creating another Admin account. (Have done that but can't seem to access the files of the other Admin (problem account)... says I don't have permissions.

Please help. Have been trying different 'tips' on the web for the last 3 hours. Nothing works so far.

If you have already tried creating another admin account, you can try this tutorial: Take Ownership Shortcut

Thanks. I'm currently letting Take Ownership run.

I'm assuming it takes a while... hope it works when it's done.

Just wondering.. is there a way to get the settings (bookmarks, extensions) on Chrome or at least see them so I can copy them (even manually I'm okay with doing).

Same thing with the desktop icons.

    Thanks.

    Thanks. Sorry, I wasn't clear.

I noticed that the icons/shortcuts (icons that are put on the desktop background when programs are installed) on the background screen are different in the newly created account, compared to the old (problem) admin account.

Is there a way to see what the icons on the background were so i can set it up/copy again.

    Thanks for the help.

    I see,

There should be no problem of your desktop icons since it is a new profile.
It should be the default icon when a program was installed. Did you modify your theme on your problematic account?

Can you give an example of that program, if you can upload screenshot, much better.
