    Download Folder in the Favorites shows Explorer.exe error this file is


    Hi everyone,
    i am facing a problem opening my downloads folder in the favorites when i click on it shows an error "Explorer.exe This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action...." i've tried several things to work it around but am not good in such things, i have a lot important data in this folder that i want to recover at least so i can even format and re-instal windows if there is no other solution. i've tried Ccleaner for registry fix and it doesn't work i need help please thanks in advance.

    Tried this method not working the problem is in this folder only all the other folders are working no problem

    Does it happen in C:\users\'username'\downloads folder?

    The items listed in this 'Favorites' bar are Shortcut files that are located in a user account's Links folder (C:\Users\%Username%\Links).

    Svr, your 'Downloads' Shortcut file looks bad. Replace it. Or restore it by deleting it then right-clicking the Favorites bar > Restore favorite links.

    Thanks Pyporhly i did what u said delete it and then restoring and now it disappeared and not restoring

    You can manually create a "Downloads" Shortcut and place it in the C:\Users\%Username%\Links folder.

    Do you happen to have a Restore Point that was created before you noticed this issue? I recommend you do a System Restore and jump back to an earlier date.

    system restore failed several times, and the ugly truth is the folder is deleted with all the data i donwloaded a recovery program and i discovered that the folder was deleted with all the data in it
