    Hi

It depends on which file and whether it is critical or not. I have seen the following symptoms when a hard drive has bad sectors in "C:" drive's area.

    1. Windows won't boot past the glowing logo screen.

    2. Windows won't load the desktop and may stuck at a black screen with mouse cursor.

    3. Very slow booting.

    4. Booting stops with one of the following BSOD screens.

    STOP 0x07A KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

    STOP 0x0ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

    STOP 0x07B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

    STOP 0x0F4 CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION

    5. Booting stops with an error message complaining \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM is missing or corrupt.

However those symptoms can be also caused by other issues. So i would recommend running a full diagnostics of the disk by using "Seagate Seatool" which supports all manufacturer's hard drives.
