With terrabytes of disc space cheaply available, your argument is moot...

Who mentioned disk space? Use something that works. I prefer K-Lite. Last time I bothered with Shark's codecs the VIsual redist package was flagged as toxic.

    False positive.

Give it another try, you may change your mind.

Note: I've used K-Lite for a couple of years, and liked it - no issues. Shark's codecs just seem better and smoother to me on my systems. <shrug> Different strokes.

Either way, K-LIte came up clean on virus total, so I'll stick with it.

I was just about to check. In K-Lite Basic, load Haali Media Splitter and set the thumbnail option to yes, and the offset time to 8000 milliseconds. Reboot.
    works for you?

No, but the help file has been updated. You need a 516kb program provided by codec guide and set the x264 filter to ffdshow and reboot. I'll try this asap.
