    Desktop icons are missing but text remains

    Yesterday something happened to my PC. I couldn't even load it. I think startup files has been seriously damaged. Luckily I could fix this by using Windows latest successful configuration. But then when I saw my desktop, icons of files where missing but it's name remained. It's still like that right now. I had done a lot of Googling but I couldn't repair it. I used several softwares like Dll-Files fixer, Ccleaner. Also I tried sfc /scannow, But nothing has changed at all.

    Can you help me with this problem?

    Thanks.

    Tweaking.com's Windows Repair (All in One), unclick the defaults and try only the one to rebuild icons.

    Hi:

    In addition to the excellent suggestion above, would this work:

    Icon Cache - Rebuild

    or this:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2396571/en-us

    or this:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2670504/en-us >> linking to this:

    <just curious>

    Thanks for replies, RolandJS I am sorry I could't understand what you said. I know the software which you wrote but didn't understand instructions.

    It says: Icon db has already been deleted.

    Thanks for replies.

    None of them works... Is it possible to reinstall Windows, but keep all programs and files on the place? Or is there any fixer that can substitute all old windows dll files with new ones? I think they might be corrupted, or something is wrong with registry...
