Windows 7 - Verify the items location and try again.

    Hello..

In the past few days when i try to delete a folder from my desktop I will get an error that says:

    "Could not find this item

    c:/users/xxxxxxxx/desktop

Verify the items location and try again"

When I reboot my computer the item actually is deleted after the reboot. I found tons of stuff on the web about how to delete files but I want to actually fix the error (that I could not find)

I don't want to just know how to delete the files when I get the error, but instead I'm trying to figure out how to fix it so this error stops popping up. Much searching on the net and I found nothing about actually fixing the error itself.

My windows 7 professional (64bit) was only installed about 2 weeks ago so it is a pretty fresh install.

Like I said, it only started 2 or 3 days ago so why all of a sudden it is happening I don't know. But it sure is annoying.

I'm wondering if it is somehow associated with my registry.

Any idea how to fix the actual error (not just how to delete the files) so it stops popping up every time I go to delete a folder, would be appreciated?

    Thanks

If I understand your post what you must do is stop downloading things that put such items on your desktop.

It would be very helpful if your specs were filled in completely including your power supply and security programs used.

Use these tutorials to help you do that.

Who or what put the folders on your desktop. Is that not what you are trying to find out?

Something put them there. A infection, download, or a program you have installed.
Could this be a icon that is involved in this thread of yours?
