That's funny - superfetch has been disabled on my machine for a couple of years (I use a RAMdisk instead) but I still had the problem.

Maybe other users could test. Note there may be performance issues if superfetch is disabled.

I would be interested to know if RAMdisk is running the same conflicts as superfetch as well.. I primarily use Linux, these Windows issues I found in customers computers..

I have had superfetch turned off for months and I still have the problem with SVChost draining my memory.

Yah, oddly enough it has been a functional method for me thus far. Right now I am prepping a virtual machine to try and see if I can get myself into the issue and try to resolve it. Windows systems that do not run updates are seeming to me unaffected as far as I have seen, so it is a bug related to some of the new updates. I have also gotten in ties with a Network admin who claims there are patches for the issue in the server systems.

If I find anything else I will be sure to post it. I could use any information anyone is willing to provide on current software such as virus protection, there is a good chance that it is related to a common software trend of people. The computers I have fixed so far are minimal systems used mainly just for email and web browsing, running Nortin anti-virus.

Could you post information regarding your CPU / chipset? And do you run the same software on all machines?

Gigabyte MB GA-A75M-UD2H with an AMD A8-3850 APU running AMD A75 chipset, 16 GB memory. All other machines are Intel based. The system with the issue is used as a media server only. Software running, Plex media (primary media player), McAfee total protection, AMD catalyst control center, Handbrake, Cyberlink PowerDVD 10, VLC media player. One of the other machines (a laptop) is running all the same software as the server machine.

    Go services
search for Background Intelligence Transfer Service
    double click on that
    stop the service status
    and startup type disable

Ha! That was one of the services on my list. There is more information here as well.. Windows Update / SvcHost.exe 100% Cpu in task manager - Microsoft Community

It also seems that this component has not been upgraded much in the past, so it is my theory that it is another updated component that is now causing conflict with services such as these...
