Windows 10, Home Clean Install

I wanted to use run and go to msconfig. I inadvertently typed config in my seaarch (by start button), my computer instantly shut down and restarted. What did I actually do?

Probably activated a power option.

I am planning to buy a laptop with these specs 8 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Core i7 740 QM 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD 1 GB ATI Graphics Is these specs enough to handle complex applications and future applications/programs?
