Dual boot with XP

I had one SATA 250 MB HD with 3 partitions and Windows XP on first. All work fine until I added a second HD 40MB ATA as IDE master.I have instaled Windows 7 on new HD
and after that my PC wont boot normaly. Both Windows recognize ATA HD as disk 0 , SATA HD as disk 1(in disk managment). In XP boot.ini stand rdisk 0.When i tried to change it to rdisk 1 XP could not boot.
I am able to boot both Windows through bios utility which offers me to choose which HD to boot. When I choose ATA drive I get a screen offering Windows 7 and Windows XP.Windows.Windows 7 boots normaly , XP wont boot. How can I solve this problem?
Thank You,
Djordje

My problem is SOLVED.in meantime I was reading a lot of posts and realised what I was doing wrong.I tried with copying boot.ini , ntldr and ntdetect from XP but i was changing in boot.ini only line 5 from rdisk o to rdisk 1.Then I read in one post that I should do the same in line 3 of boot.ini and now PC boots normaly , shawing XP, 7 an Recovery Console.

Hi F2kSel,

Welcome to the Forum.

Vista and 7 don't have a boot.ini.

They use Bootmgr. and Bcd.

If you can't boot to 7, but you can to XP, use the 7 dvd to boot to System Recovery Options - Vista Forums and select Startup Repair.

The tutorial is for Vista - the process is the same for 7.

Hope it helps

Cheers I've run System recovery (repair) but it makes no difference and didn't find anything wrong. The only thing I did differently when installing Win7 is that I didn't remove the other drives which I usually do, I did make it the first drive in the bios though.
