    Owner of PC but no admin access Windows 7

    Hi,

    I am the owner of my pc and the user I am logged into is only able to read/execute. I've tried several ways of regaining back Admin but have always been prompt with the message 'Access denied'. I've noticed the box is ticked for 'Account is disabled' for admin account but I can't untick it because I'm logged into a user with minimum privileges and therefore stuck at 'Access denied'.

    Is there another way around this issue such that I'm able to regain back my admin privileges?

    Thanks in advance!

    Try going back to your other thread with this problem. Those methods suggested should still work.

    How does this problem keep happening to you?
    You must be doing something to make this happen.

    Standard user unable to access Administrator rights

    Would this work: Password Reset?

    Altering the above tutorial steps a bit:
    - open regedit
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\SetupType set the value to 2
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\CmdLine set the value to cmd.exe
    - restart PC
    - at command prompt: net localgroup Administrators [UserLoginName] /add

    i dont have SetupType under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\

    i only see
    Setup
    ->AllowStart
    ->GWX
    ->Service Reporting API
    ->SetupCI
    ->SQM
    ->Status
    ->Timers

    Ok, you are looking at the wrong place :)
    When you are at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup
    look at the right pane (window) SetupType and CmdLine keys are there. Double click to open, write new values and click OK.

    Restart and run the command: net localgroup Administrators [UserLoginName] /add
    [UserLoginName] is your accounts name, the one that lists under C:\Users

    I get an error message whenever I try to edit the new value to 2.

    Possibly because you don't have administrator rights.

    Please download NT Password Reset & Registry Editor Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor
    Make bootable media and boot with it, it "should" let you make the change.

    See this Tutorial by Dinesh: User Account Password - Change from WinRE System Repair Disc.

    I've used it many times, works great.

    Hmm, does the command for enabling administrator account not work unless you rename cmd/magnifier?

    You can use the Super Admin account in windows 7 and use that if you need admin rights. (right-click on the CMD and select run as administrator) then type this: net user administrator /active:yes do what youu need to do. When you are done open the CMD and type net user administrator /active:no and log out.
