    I can't copy a file - "Access Denied"

I have Cygwin installed on my Windows 7 machine but it seems there is a problem with the permissions on the Cygwin folder because it doesn't allow me to copy any files to it, i get "access denied" every time i try. I tried to change the permissions from the folder properties but it doesn't allow me to save the settings. I tried different copy programs, also Robocopy, but still getting "access denied".

    Any solution for this?

Can you take ownership of the folder?

Try adding your own account to permissions and give full control.

To add to GokAy's answer -- Take Ownership - Allow or Prevent Users and Groups To Shows you how to do this easily.

You may also need to assign guest access to the Cygwin folder through BASH -- bash - Root user/sudo equivalent in Cygwin? - Stack Overflow the first answer on there is a detailed guide to doing this.
**Warning** This is from base knowledge of Cygwin / Linux use at risk **Warning**
Once you have done this, you should use "CHMOD 777 -R -F" to force the files to be R/W/Executable by all users.

I think i may have a syntax issue on that, but i'm not certain.

I added my user name to the owners of the folder and finally i was able to copy files in this directory. I go to Properties>Security>Advanced>Change Permissions>Add and i added my user name and gave it Full Control permission.
I don't know why but original owners of the folder were Everyone, Creator Owner, Creator Group and these other two:

    S-1-5-21-737781111-1622150700-586221225-1001

Did you copy paste this folder from some other installation perhaps?
