I have tried to stop it popping up via the "Hide icon and notifications icon" but it just keeps coming back. I have tried deleting the folder GWX but I get the error message that I need permission from "TrustedInstaller"
No need to uninstall it. Access Task Scheduler > Microsoft > Windows > Setup > GWX then disable triggers for "launchtrayprocess" and "refreshgwxconfig" and reboot.

I personally didn't disable this icon, though, as it wasn't really causing any havoc with my system

I tried this in the morning, but was unable to due to permission issues. Account is an admin, need to open in elevated?

That's ok. You can hide the update to no longer have it available to install in Windows Update.

I didn't install those updates but you might try removing it from the Notifications.

Right click the Task Bar, select Properties.
On the Taskbar tab, look for Notification area and click on Customize.
Scroll through the notification and see if W10 shows up. If it does, give it a no-show.
Didn't work. Tried several times restarting each time it goes back to default.

Brink before posting here, I tried to remove the W10 icon using various methods but none worked.

I unchecked updates for MS products etc.....now I can't see it in Updates, how can I bring it back.....had it checked earlier?

Do I need to reinstall MS Off?

    Thanks again.
