Somewhat complicated dvd question, not sure where to put it

Okay, let me explain my setup first. I have two laptops, both 7Pro, one 32, one 64. Which ever one I am using, I run through a Toshiba Dynadock powered USB hub (with audio and graphics) to a monitor and 5.1 speakers (oh, I live on a boat, so laptops are about all that fits).

I also have a Memorex external dvd player connected to the Dynadock. This is where it gets complicated. Media player won't play dvd's from the 32 bit machine, but will from the 64 bit machine, though both are using the same external player. It tells me to update the graphics driver, but it's up to date. I'm set for Region 1, as I should be, so I'm not sure what's causing the problem. (I usually just rip the dvd's to mkv anyway, but occasionally want to use the dvd player.

    Any thoughts?

Is 32bit up-to-date with Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba?

Is the DVD drive recognized correctly? Open data disks etc?
Does it play other Video DVDs?

Not sure if this will help..

Yes, I'm all up to date on everything. And yes to your other questions.
