    Things vanishing from desktop

I have had backgrounds, desktop icons and even Firefox "Personas" simply vanish, one minute they are there next they are gone without going into sleep mode, while just using.
The ATI Catalyst Control Center also has to be re-started every time the computer comes out of sleep mode.

Other than that it is running fine.

The machine is a new Compaq Presario with AMD dual core, Win 7.

Run Malwarebytes, full system scan. Then run sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt. Type cmd into the start menu, and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter at once or right click and select run as administartor.

Was this a clean install or 'over the top install'? Did you have problems with your previous OS?
Where did you get the Windows 7 DVD?

Am already set as administrator, run Malware scans and nothing, machine came with Vista and free upgrade on CD to 7 from Compaq.
Win 7 was clean install after reformatting drive and creating a single partition.
After the first few days of 7 and noticing the vanishing desktop problems I found it easier to just do a re-format and re-install to see if it persisted...it did.
Malware is handled by Arovax and Microsoft's Defender and Firefox is the default browser.
