Book Suggestion ?

Anyone suggest a really basic book at a H.S. Junior level that describes
how computers work, without presupposing any knowledge of subject ?

Probably needs a chapter or two on binary arithmetic, Registers, and progress thru what
a HD is, and something about how Memory is organized perhaps.

But, simple and basic.

Real beginner stuff, but reasonably thorough.

Google with proper keywords would be the best source imho. i.e., for dummies, simplified, basics, etc.

This is a good book: How computers work

You can look at the beginning of it at the link above. Not sure how jargon free it is but it looks like a decent place to start.

A SF suggestion
Would it be interesting if in the user cp (or somewhere on the forum), if there was a way to invite friends/family to sf forums by inputting their email address. I know a few people who are tech savvy who would do well here if they weren't already here. :)
