    Acer 5742 crash-window 7 repair

My Acer 5742 laptop is not able to reboot during start up. It says: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer."
I called Acer and they say that my warranty is over (even I paid for the 3 yr extended warranty at future shop) and they put me to a 3rd party repair shop based in India which asked me to pay for their repair service. I brought it to future shop(best buy)) they want me to pay $99 for initial trouble shooting and more money for the other technical repair because they say it is software problem. Unfortunately, when future shop did the laptop set up, they did not save a recovery disc or Windows 7 discs for me. How can I repair my laptop from here. Will appreciate any help. Thanks.

You would need to run startup repair (three times with a restart in between each if necessary) - Startup Repair

If your System Spec is right, you should install 64bit since you have 6GB RAM. However, there is no upgrade path from 32 to 64 bit. So you would have to clean install Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Can you not find a 64bit Home Prem installation DVD from a friend?

If you need to get your user files/data off try booting with Linux Mint MATE (if asked choose TRY and not install) and copy them to an external drive.

You can try running Acer eRecovery Management - Restore Using ALT - F10 - YouTube
Acer Support Frequently Asked Questions list for Recovery media and Restoring a system to factory load

However if it will run that just reinstalls the factory image which is an inferior install so you might as well invest now in getting the best possible install. Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7
including in Step 1 how to find and prepare the installation media.
