Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Freeze while Idle

    Hi All,

I am in need of some assistance with an issue I have been having for over 6 months, I have only recently been trouble shooting the issue as it has been getting a lot worse as time has gone on. If someone could please provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated as it is starting to cause a lot of issues for me.

I will try to provide everything in point form to make it easier to follow.

ISSUE – When I leave the PC and step away it will go IDLE and the screens will turn off when I come back I will move my mouse or hit the keyboard and the screens will not turn back on. The PC will remain frozen until I power it back on. (IT does not happen as soon as it idles it can take anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours)

    • · Sleep and hibernation mode are both disabled.
    • · Displays turn off after 10 mins
    • · PC is on balanced power setting.
    • · Turn off Hard disk set to 20 mins
    • · PC has been freshly re-imaged 3 times but the issue continues
    • · CPU Temp is about 27 on IDLE cooled with cosair hydro pump
    • · MemTest has been run for about 3 hours with no errors
    • · (Not to give a red herring but a freeze usually can happen quite quickly after a session of GoToMyPc or TeamViewer has ended.)

    System Settings –

    • · i7-3820
    • · P9X79-PRO
    • · 2x Gigabyte HD 7970
    • · Corsair 16GB (4x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 Vengeance
    • · Samsung 128GB SSD 840 PRO Series
    • · Samsung 256GB SSD 850 Pro
    • · Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1
    • · Both SSD are running latest Firmware BXM06B0Q and EXM01B6Q
    • · Graphic Cards are running Catalyst 15.5
    • · All Windows Updates Installed
    • · Motherboard Bios has latest manufacture update.

    Trouble Shooting -

    1. · For the purpose of this thread I can give you some recent trouble shooting. I'm not saying what is in the event viewer is the cause of the problem just what the last entry was.
    2. · Left PC on. PC Froze last event in log before PC was restarted - The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state.
    3. · Network Adapter ( Intel 82579V Gigabite Network Connection )- Uninstalled and deleted Ethernet drivers that came with motherboard CD installed V18.1.59.0 from ASUS Website
    4. · Left PC on PC once again froze with The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state.
    5. · Uninstalled and deleted V18.1.59.0 Network Adapter Driver again and installed the latest Intel Driver from Intel website 12.10.29.0
    6. · Left PC on PC once again froze with The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state.
    7. · Uninstalled and deleted Intel Driver 12.10.29.0
    8. · Left PC on with no Ethernet driver installed. Once again froze but this time with The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the stopped state.
    9. · Left PC on again and once again another freeze with The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the stopped state being the last entry.

Can you try a high power plan for diagnosing, don't turn off HDD and displays. See if that will help.
You can also try standart stuff: Load BIOS defaults and perform a clean startup Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
